McKenzie, Eden, Alexis, and Ashley explore their own lives through a line from GraYce, “Anyone who says anxiety isn’t a fashion statement has never had to wear its disguise in public.”
The book club discusses the intermingling of anxieties and the friendship between Olli and Grayce, and how our perspective of others can stem from our own insecurities.
Grayce pens a diary letter to The Founding Fathers...the book club discusses misogyny and the struggle to find their place in a world tailor-made for men.
The group’s discussion culminates in final thoughts on conforming to society’s expectations, differing personality types, perception, and an excerpt from GraYce
Welcome To Chai With Venus, or as we affectionately call our socialverse, “Chai” or “CWV”! My name is Deb Desigio. I am one of the CoFounders, and am also the author behind our character development and chapter themes that lead to some provocative quotes. The trilogy is designed to blend fiction with real world disordered thinking to spark conversations as to how we can become a more tolerant, encouraging, and engaging community. Much of my ability to lend expertise to companies and people who want to discover a true sense of self stems from my own transformation from trauma experienced through childhood sexual abuse, limiting beliefs, a woman serving in the military, domestic violence, becoming a mother to a child with a genetic disorder, and experiencing addiction through the eyes of a family member. The feeling of being utterly alone and often fighting ‘the system’ to create my own definition of success became the cause for creating a deep, personal relationship from within to reframe my future in a positive light. It might sound strange, but those experiences have given me a great deal of insight and anecdotes to make it possible to help push people through roadblocks for a healthier, happier space in life. CWV is an extension of so many of those campfire sessions: people gathered around a cracklin’ fire, providing warmth and humor while sharing fears, wiping tears, dispensing active mind cues, and celebrating even the smallest wins. Welcome in. We’re so glad you’re here.
Hey Y’all, I’m McKenzie Nabi! I’m a journalist located in Austin, Texas. In August, I graduated from the University of Texas with my bachelors in Journalism. I’m so excited to bring all the skills I learned there to this project! Growing up in rural East Texas as an Arab woman made me passionate about raising up marginalized voices in everything I do and I hope that reflects in my work here. I’m working on something very special for the Chai with Venus socialverse. Y’all will be seeing a lot more of me very soon!
Hi everyone, my name is Morgan Desigio! I am one of the Co-Founders of Chai With Venus, and I am also the Creative Experience Architect for CWV’s digital and physical spaces. I am currently in my senior year at the University of Texas at Austin, and I am excited to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Advertising and a minor in Business in 2025! My experience as an elite figure skater and coach at the Olympic Training Site in Colorado Springs, a local barista, and my time at UT has allowed me to have conversations with and learn from many different people with diverse backgrounds. It has been these experiences along with a passion for art, expression, and empowerment that have led to the creation of Chai With Venus. Chai With Venus aims to continue these conversations to spark enlightening discussions that will empower our audience. We are excited to welcome you to the Chai With Venus website, and hope you will join us in our weekly discussions!
